River had her 4th birthday party at the apartment this year with a few of her closest friends. She decided early that her theme would be the Paw Patrol, but it was a definite tie between that and the Ninja Turtles which is a huge favorite right now too. Nonnie bought the cake, that was done by ABC Bakery and it turned out really nicely.
The kids played a lot if frisbee, rode on her various bikes, ate lots of cake, played a hilarious game of Pin the Badge on Chase, and enjoyed each other's company.
River is very tall for her age. She is independent, articulate, fiercely opinionated, can spell her first and last names, can fingerspell, can write her first name, can sound out the first letter of a word (which she has been obsessed with lately,) and has an amazing sense of imagination. She still hates goodbyes. Her Grammy sent me a beaming email, recently, about how smart River is. Every day I count my blessings and try to soak up just how beautiful and perfect she is. By no means do I mean that she doesn't get into trouble or know exactly how to push buttons; she does, but in that way she is simply perfectly River.
