If you challenge her she will crawl

I put a comment on my facebook page that I needed to find a way to keep baby out of the Christmas tree...One of my friends asked if she was crawling. I answered that she wasn't crawling forward yet but that she would be by the end of the month. Then this happened. :)

Yes, it is in fact what it looks like.....

7 (and a half) month progress report: (Includes 6 months through present)
Things River loves to do:
Splash in water
Brush her tooth
Pick up food with thumb and forefinger (50% success with getting it into the mouth)
Recently she has taken up throwing things off of the couch or counter (or highchair) and looking over the edge at it. I think she just wants to see what will happen.
Playing with and kissing the baby in the mirror
Banging her hand on things
Trying to stand without support
Interact with other babies
Rolling from back to front to sitting (she did it at 1am this morning when I was trying to feed her. Very independent, this one)
Trying really hard to crawl (though it always turns into either sitting or scootching across the living room backward on her tummy)
Playing with the dog (although the dog is not down with that)
Saying mamamamama (generalized)- she was saying dadada and nanana and bababa but those other ones stopped. Heheheh.
Different hand gestures that look a lot like waiving, but no one can be sure...
Cuddling

River and Luther: Part 2: Park Adventure!

This is what it would look like if I had 2 babies! Luther Peacock: He's getting so big!

Marla and I took the babies to the park. We were met by a couple of other ladies and a few other kids.

River was fascinated by Luther. I'm not surprised since she loves the "baby in the mirror."

Everywhere that Mary went...

More photos of this to come when Halloween finally rolls around. I feel like dressing her up in a different costume every day this month. I mean, how many first Halloweens do you get?

Overstimulation

She loves this thing. And it's really cute to watch her play in it. I wish we had one at our house...and that it was my size...just sayin'.

Did you say Pumpkin!???

I said it ain't October without a little Pumpkin!!!

She's pretty much wearing it everywhere all the time...since this is really the only couple of months she'll ever get to...because by next year her head with be the size of a pumpkin! Just kidding...but close.

It can't be October without a little Pumpkin...

...up your nose ;)

Today She Pulled Up

Okay, so in truth this isn't the photo that goes with that title...but I can assure you she did it. It was really cute too. She was trying to get Daddy's attention and she was pulling on his pant leg. She got her whole butt off the floor! No easy feat for this one ;).

Just a silly little fashion show

Wise Alien

Last night while I was at the grocery store a woman came up to me cooing at River. She exclaimed "Oh she is so cute!" Thanks! I say thanks a lot these days. Lol. Anyway, she goes on to say:

"I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but she looks like a very cute wise little alien who knows all the answers and isn't going to tell us anything!" I can't say I don't agree...

Farewell My Lovely Sister

Dear Terra,

Have a wonderful time in Spain! BTW, what's Spain? I hope it's everything you dream and more. I certainly hope it's more than I dream about, which is milk and making the dog stay while I pull her hair... Can't wait to Skype you. I'll be slingin' it and messing with the dog until you get back.

<3, Twitch McChubbs

PS I hope I have some hair when you get back ;)

Normal and Healthy

Last month (at her 4 month check up) our Dr. said our baby was "Normal and Healthy..." I said "Is that a permanent condition...that normal thing?"

I'm just kidding...I love that she's normal and healthy. I love that it's normal that she slaps the food off my spoon so that she can have some before I get it all into my mouth. I love that it's normal that she grabs my water glass for the same reason, but then she doesn't know what to do with the water and it rolls down her double chin. She still makes me put it to her lips every time. I think it's funny that it's normal that her poop looks weird. Lol. And I'm really happy that at 5 months she's:

  • Laughing
  • Recognizing us...and our importance to her (she cries at Daddy to put her in the sling when she's tired)
  • Objects when a toy is taken away
  • Can see across the living room
  • Uses her feet to hold things just as well as with her hands
  • Daddy thinks she's left handed (I guess you'd have to ask him why)
  • Sitting up without assistance for short periods
  • Standing against something
  • Pushing from knees to standing with hands on back of couch
  • Rolling
  • She's very good at "happy baby" pose and can get her feet to her mouth
  • Using the bouncer and interacting with all the toys
  • Looking in a direction of a noise...and very recently, a word (her name, although not because it's her name, but because it's one of our voices)
  • Eating small amounts of our food and recently, baby food (sweet potatoes and squash)
  • Her thighs are too big for Chris to put his hand around. Like thunder they are!
  • "Talking" to the dog trying to make her sit patiently and be pet...that doesn't go well!
  • Looking better in BabyGap than I ever have in just about anything!
At her 4 month check up (last month) she was:
  • 25" tall
  • 15.15 lbs.
She has grown since last month, of course. The reason you didn't see this last month was not because I got lazy (although I can't say I wasn't ;))...but because blogspot lost my post. So, sorry. It was up...and then it wasn't. Boo. All is well. Hoorah hoorah!

Just Come A Little Bit Closer

Life as it happens...

This girl is obsessed with my water bottle. She will literally stop pretty much anything she is doing to look at it...and then take it and suck on it...

Probably not teething but she really loves cold things. Pretty cute.

Okay, is there anything cuter than a baby wearing a ducky towel?

She found her feet last week. First friends!!!

IT'S SO FLUFFY!

Chris found one of Cassia's old stuffed animals...yeah, she fell in love with fluffy bunny at first gumming. While sitting on daddy's lap she wrapped her entire body around it and stuck her face full on into that bunny and came out wearing its fur, unfortunately. But still, she loves it :).

Ninja Bubbles

My friend gave me these bubbles and Chris added dish washing soap. Not only does she love them, but they are now so strong that they don't pop when then they fall on the floor. Crazy right? The only problem now is that they spray soap everywhere when they pop on your face. Lol.

Pink Lady

Anonymous Gift

This beautiful little blanket with different colored ribbons was left in my box at Stone Age the other day. She loves it.

It only gets cuter

Gift me the moon and I'll stuff my whole hand in my mouth. (Onesie from Italy)
I told her to call her Nonni...she got right on that.
I'm pretty sure that's called the Evil Bunny Eye...
Yes, I fight my daughter with a sword...what of it? ;)
I dare you to figure out what's wrong with this photo...and it starts with the look she's giving Daddy.
Cute and sweet...like pez, or skittles. Rainbow.

Huggin' it out with Eeyore.
Like Father like Daughter. Seriously. Does it get any cuter?
